Lose Weight and Keep it Off – for Good

There are many quick ways to lose weight. The real challenge, however, lies in losing weight and keeping it off because, more often than not, the get-thin-quick schemes are temporary measures that will only serve to starve you (and yes, you will rebound from it – with a vengeance), or get rid of some water-fat. The best way to lose weight and keep it off would be through healthy diet planning and exercise.

Review Your Habits

Are you eating right? Look at the food pyramid, and see if you are eating the right amount of the right kinds of food. Even if it says carbohydrates and sugars, know that there are good sources (like fruits) and bad sources (like candies and processed foods). You can easily lose weight and keep it off by simply cutting down on the bad sugars, carbs, and fats from your diet.

Another way to lose weight and keep it off that can be determined by reviewing your habits is to see how active you are. The body is, for the most part, an efficient machine, and it is not wasteful. Your food intake (if it is in excess of what you really need) will be stored as fat. It is therefore wise to lessen your caloric intake to match your activities.

Make a Plan

Things will go smoothly if you actually plan how to lose weight and keep it off. Set a goal. How much weight do you plan on losing? Best ask for medical advice on how much is too much and how much is just enough. Then you can ask yourself what sacrifices you are willing to make. The more you feel like you are depriving yourself, the more likely you are to veer away from your plan to lose weight and keep it off.

Lastly, be realistic. If you do not have the body structure of Milla Jovovich, chances are no matter how much you try to lose weight and keep it off, you probably never will. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being full-bodied like Marilyn Monroe, is there?

A Few Suggestions

Here are a couple of suggestions on how to lose weight and keep it off for those of us who do not have the natural bone structure of Angelina Jolie:

1. Do a little research on alternative foods and supplements. There are so many these days that will help you curb your cravings without gaining extra weight. Some of them are quite acceptable to the palate, too. There are even foods and supplements that can increase your metabolism and help you burn fat safely; thus, you lose weight and keep it off, yet still eat as much as you are used to eating, so you won’t feel deprived.

2. Exercise. You don’t necessarily have to join a health club or a gym to lose weight and keep it off, especially if it doesn’t fit your personality to be jumping around, or twisting yourself into a pretzel in public. That’s what exercise videos are for. Start gradually. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and some of us were not born with hourglass shapes. Give your body a chance to catch up with your ideals.
